Having recently relocated back West, I have been very interested in getting to know individuals who have shaped Los Angeles. Someone who stood out, in particular, is longtime surfboard shaper, Guy Okazaki. While crafting a few boards for an upcoming exhibition with General Admission, it was incredible experience to witness Okazaki’s attention to detail while still keeping a laidback approach.
Okazaki moved to Los Angeles from Hawaii in 1955 and still continues to master his craft from his studio in Venice. ■
